The Department of Finance has launched a public consultation on the Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit, a key government incentive that has supported innovation in Ireland for over 20 years.
The scope of the consultation is wide-ranging. In addition to reviewing the existing R&D Tax Credit, the Department is also exploring options to introduce new innovation incentives that could support a broader range of activities not currently covered by the tax credit. This represents a significant opportunity for businesses of all sizes — particularly SMEs — to help shape the future of innovation policy in Ireland.
At SciMet R&D, we welcome this review and will be making a formal submission informed by our experience in supporting Irish businesses, especially SMEs, to prepare and defend R&D Tax Credit claims since 2014.
But we also want to hear directly from the business community.
We’ve created a short, easy-to-use questionnaire to help businesses share their views and experiences. Responses are fully anonymous, and you can answer as many or as few questions as you like. The insights we gather will be reflected in our submission to the Department of Finance.
